Ryan Reynolds News: Actor to Star in 'The Rosie Project?'

After a successful negotiation with 20th Century Fox that resulted in him having a bigger paycheck for the "Deadpool" sequel, Ryan Reynolds is back in the negotiation table as he is in talks with Sony's TriStar Pictures to top bill "The Rosie Project," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The movie was already seeing progress in summer last year until Jennifer Lawrence backed out in October, thanks to her crammed schedule. However, "The Rosie Project" producers, Matt Tolmach and Michael Costigan, won't just allow the project to stay on the shelf, hence; they decided to rebuild the story with Reynolds in mind. After all, the actor's popularity is undeniable these days, thanks to the impressive success of his "Deadpool" movie.

"The Rosie Project" is an adaptation of the book penned by Graeme Simsion. Its movie adaptation version is scribed by Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber. It follows the story of a genetics professor who has poor social skills and comes up with a scientific survey that measures someone's perfect mate. However, when his path crosses with that of Rosie Jarman, a woman who possesses the exact opposite of the qualities he is looking for, his plan goes awfully wrong.

Earlier this week, it was also reported that 20th Century Fox and Reynolds finally sealed the deal that increased his talent fee for "Deadpool 2." Prior to the surprising box-office performance of "Deadpool," Reynolds had already signed for a sequel. Allegedly, he was only paid $2 million for the first "Deadpool," and, presumably, the same amount of pay for the sequel.

However, with the box-office success of "Deadpool," Reynolds earned the right to demand for a higher pay, and reportedly, he and his WME reps were able to reach a win-win deal with 20th Century Fox.

If Reynolds and Tri-Star reach a deal on "The Rosie Project," it will be the actor's fourth movie in line. He is set to begin shooting for the action movie "The Hitman's Bodyguard" and has a role in "Life," too.

Meanwhile, the cameras will start rolling for "Deadpool 2" this fall.
