Ryan Reynolds News: 'Deadpool' Actor Continues to Be a Hero in His Own Way, Encourages Others to Support Make a Wish Foundation

Months after "Deadpool" became a surprising global blockbuster, the actor who breathed life to the superhero character, Ryan Reynolds, still continues to be a superhero in his own little ways by becoming an inspiration to others.

After a 13-year "Deadpool" fan lost his battle to cancer, Reynolds immediately paid tribute to the boy, Connor McGrath, on his Facebook account. Reynolds started his post by giving a background story of McGrath in his battle with cancer, saying that he had initially defeated the disease, but it may have cheated and finally claimed the life of the boy. He continued his post by describing the boy on how he knew him, saying that he was smart and funny.

The actor also disclosed that he got linked to the boy via the Make-A-Wish Foundation, whom he also thanked, because, through the foundation, the boy's ultimate wish back then to see "Deadpool" materialized.

"… I can't thank them enough. Seriously. Thank you. Because of his wish, Connor was the first person to see Deadpool. I traveled up to Edmonton, Alberta to surprise him with a rough cut of the film. There were still huge sections with wires we hadn't yet painted out, jokes which weren't working (and still aren't) and green screens. Connor didn't seem to mind. And I'd never felt luckier to get to be Wade Wilson," wrote Reynolds.

Apart from granting the boy's wish to see "Deadpool" in advance, the actor continued to shower him with things that could tone down his blues, such as exchanging text messages. However, as he visited the boy once more six weeks after their first meeting, it was when he realized that circumstances were not working on the favor of his fan, whom he already considered his friend and called "Bubba."

With the passing of McGrath, Reynolds encourages other people to support Make a Wish Foundation to make more wishes come true.

"If you'd like to donate to The Make-A-Wish Foundation, I can pretty much guarantee, your money's going to a damn good place. These people do not suck. They are heroic. Full stop. http://makeawishna.ca/wishes/donate," he says in his Facebook post.
