A Sagamore Bridge hit and run accident has killed a 44 year old Israeli citizen this week. The hit and run has resulted in State Police launching a public appeal for information to help locate a dark pickup truck thought to be responsible for the killing.
The road accident saw one fatality, but also saw one other driver ejected from his vehicle and five others seriously injured. The crash saw the Sagamore Bridge closed down in both directions for hours following the incident.
According to authorities, the pickup truck being sought was merging from the Scenic Highway onto Route 6 eastbound at around 8 p.m. local time on Thursday. However, the truck hit a 2004 GMC Sierra that was going in the same direction.
The hit caused the Sierra to cross over the median and into oncoming traffic. The Sierra ended up hitting a 2012 Chrysler Town and Country minivan in a head on crash. Israeli citizen, Amanon Bogomolsky, was driving the minivan and he was the one fatality in the incident.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Sierra was thrown from his truck and suffered life-threatening injuries.
A number of other passengers in the minivan were also seriously injured and taken to a local hospital to receive medical treatment, according to Cape and Islands District Attorney Michael O'Keefe.
The killed victim, Bogomolsky, was visiting the United States with his 12-year-old son, according to a spokesman with the Israeli Consulate in Boston.
State Police released a statement on Friday: "We are seeking a dark-colored pickup truck, possibly with minor to moderate damage to its left front end or left side, which was last seen leaving the scene heading east on Route 6."
Anyone with information about the truck or accident is asked to call the State Police in Bourne at (508) 759-4488.
