Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe were recently spotted spending time together at a mall in South Africa while taking a break from filming the third season of the Starz TV series "Outlander."
Photos of the two actors shopping together at a mall in Cape Town have surfaced. While the pair was enjoying a great rest day from work, lucky fans who encountered them managed to have photos taken with them. The on-screen couple did not hesitate to oblige their "Outlander" followers.
"Can't believe we crossed paths with @caitrionabalfe and @SamHeughan yesterday! So nice to their speechless fans," one fan wrote on Twitter, sharing a photo taken with the two "Outlander" actors.

With photographic proof that Heughan and Balfe have indeed been spending time together outside of their official work on "Outlander," the hopes of many fans that the two could actually be dating in real life have been reignited.
Heughan was previously romantically linked with MacKenzie Mauzy, and fans were astonished the actor appeared with the "Into the Woods" actress in the recently held Academy Awards. There are those who even went so far as to speculate that his relationship with Mauzy is only a publicity stunt pulled by the actor to keep his romantic relationship with his "Outlander" co-star under wraps.
However, Balfe previously clarified that there is nothing romantic going on between her and Heughan. She also explained that she is just "very good friends" with her "Outlander" co-star and that they get along really well.
"We're not together... I'm sorry to break people's hearts. They like to try to maybe replicate the Claire and Jamie story. But I think it would be difficult for us to work together and be together," the actress told E! News.
Though Balfe and Heughan are not in any way romantically linked in real life, fans of the actors can at the very least look forward to the steamy reunion between their fictional characters, Claire and Jamie, in the upcoming premiere of "Outlander" season 3 this September.
