Samsung Galaxy A8 Release Date, Specs News: Midrange Mobile Phone Hits Indian Market

In an attempt to further expand its reach in the competitive Indian market, Samsung has launched its Galaxy A8 specs in the Asian sub-continent.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the device will be priced at an equivalent of $508 in India, which is definitely a steep price tag. But do the phone's specs and features do it justice?

In the report, the Samsung Galaxy A8 is powered by a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, a 2GB RAM, an Exynos 5430 chipset, and a big LITTLE octa-core CPU that is powered by four cores of 1.8GHz Cortex-A15 and four cores of 1.3GHz Cortex-A7.

In addition, the device also runs on a Mali-T628 MP6 GPU to handle graphics intensive processes, and a 32GB built-in storage that can be expanded through the provided microSD card slot.

Other additional specs include a 16MP primary camera with an aperture of f/1.9, a 5MP front camera with a 120 degree wide angle lens, a 3050mAh battery, and Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box.

However, what makes this phone really interesting is that it is Samsung's thinnest smartphone to date. Based on the report, the Galaxy A8 only has a 5.9mm waistline, beating most of the phones in the market.

While the specs of the device are still decent, it is definitely questionable whether a sub-500 dollar device can get succeed in an unforgiving Indian market that is dominated by local brands like Micromax and Karbonn, and Chinese companies like Xiaomi, Lenovo, Oppo and OnePlus.
