Samsung Galaxy Mega On – Samsung's Mid-Level Phablet Seen on TENAA

The Korean smartphone manufacturer is once again bringing more options for smartphone buyers when it comes to larger smartphones or phablets. Recently, one of its newest phablets, the Samsung Galaxy Mega On, passed through certification with the Chinese regulatory commission TENAA, according to a Tech Times report. Passing through TENAA indicated that the new device will be released in the Chinese market soon, and possibly other markets later. The report cited that the device will definitely be debuting in China soon.

The Samsung Galaxy Mega On is considered to be a mid-level phablet and its specifications, according to the report indicate just that. The phone's display is expected to be a 5.5-inch one with a resolution of 720p HD. Under its hood, the certification site indicated a quad-core 1.2GHz processor, which is likely to be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 420 chipset. This processor is coupled with 1 GB of RAM. Internal storage is only at 8 GB but is expandable to up to 128 GB via microSD support.

As for its cameras, it fares well with recent flagships, as it will have a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing selfie camera. The device will weigh in at only 172 grams (or 0.38 pounds) and will only be 8.2 mm thick.

It will not have the latest Android OS but will come pre-installed with the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS, as it customary in mid-level devices. It will, however, support 4G LTE connectivity. The phone's battery will be a 3,000 mAh one.

According to the report, Samsung earlier indicated that it will be releasing larger phones or phablets after it released the Galaxy Note 5. Together with the Galaxy Mega On, another phablet called the Galaxy Grand On will also be released. Both phones are joining the ranks of Samsung's mid-level phone series such as the A series and the E series.

Samsung has yet to announce when it will release the Galaxy Mega On in the market.
