Samsung Galaxy Note 8 S-Pen, Battery Life Review: Which Features Are Worth the Buck?

With roughly two weeks since its release, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 has received fairly positive reviews. Some of its features, however, earned average and not-so-stellar feedback from early tech reviewers.

In a report by The Indian Express, the S-Pen offers key features that give users a bang for their buck. The S-Pen offers accuracy when it comes to handwriting, which is perfect for people who need to take down notes while on the go. Moreover, the S-Pen allows users to pin their notes to the top of the display and send live, hand-written messages to friends.

In addition, the S-Pen is now dust and waterproof, and users who love to draw will also find the accessory very helpful.

Meanwhile, the device's battery is a different story, with the world zooming in on the battery of the Galaxy Note 8 after its predecessor sported a disastrous one. The report noted that the 3300 mAh battery of the Galaxy Note 8 is underwhelming. It may no longer be the overheating and exploding type like that of the Note 7's, but its battery life is no longer the same compared to the early incarnations of the Note.

The battery yields an average of two to three hours of screen on time and seven hours on the PC Mark test, the report added. TrustedReviews reported, however, that the Note 8's battery charges very quickly. It has the capability of complete charging from an empty state in an hour and a half.

Sporting a 6.3-inch display, the Galaxy Note 8 sports a super AMOLED touchscreen, offering 16M colors. It also features a primary Dual 12-megapixel camera with autofocus, 2x optical zoom, and dual-LED flash. The secondary, on the other hand, is an 8-megapixel camera with /1.7, autofocus, 1/3.6" sensor size, dual video call, and Auto HDR.

It also runs on the Qualcomm MSM8998 Snapdragon 835 and has an iris and fingerprint sensor. Just like the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+, the Galaxy Note 8 also features the Bixby voice assistant.
