Samsung Galaxy S3 Display to Set New Standard for HD Screens

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is rumored to set a new standard with its display when it is released later on this year, according to CrazyAboutAndroid.com.

A source close to Samsung revealed that the device will feature a screen with a 1280x800 resolution and will measure in at 4.7-inches. A lot of reports have also pointed to the smartphone boasting a 316ppi pixel density, which is a significant jump from the Galaxy S2 that has 250ppi.

The Galaxy Nexus and Galaxy Note both feature a PenTile matrix, but Samsung seems to have found a new way to create a normal RGB matrix for the Galaxy S3 that will combine the FMM (Fine Metal Mask) process used in AMOLED screen production with the new LITI Laser-Induced Thermal Imaging method.

This will help Samsung to produce pixels as small as 2.5 micrometers.

FMM normally creates blue pixels while LITI makes red and green ones. With the combination of the two, the Galaxy S3 will feature one of the most impressive Super AMOLED displays on the market with a true HD resolution.

It could even blow away what Apple is doing on the new iPad that arguably sports the world's best HD display on a handheld device.

Samsung has not confirmed any news regarding a release date for the handset.

However, the company did state that the Samsung Galaxy S3's launch and unveiling will take place close together unlike the launch of the Galaxy S2.

Most rumors point to the device featuring a quad-core processor, a Gorilla Glass 2 display making it super resistant to scratches, wireless charging, ceramic casing, and 4G LTE.

With the Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich operating system rolling out on many new devices, the next-generation Galaxy S device will probably use the software as well.
