Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge vs LG G5 Features and Price Details: Which is better?

With Samsung set to launch the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 as its latest flagship phone this August, and its tech rival Apple to release the iPhones 7 and 7 Plus the following month, the market for the ideal mobile phone continues to blow wide open.

But before that, two of the best smartphones of this year - the Galaxy S7 Edge and the LG G5, both flagships of their respective brands - continue to slug it out to be the "best smartphone" in the market.

So, if you're still wondering about which phone is the better buy, we've done a pretty comprehensive comparison between the two phones.

Camera: LG G5

As far as flagship phones go, they're supposed to carry the best camera the brand has to offer. Users are particularly picky about cameras that shoot well in low-light conditions, of course, as the true test of the camera's true capabilities.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge has a bit of advantage with its HDR capabilities. It's able to adjust the images where shadows and highlights are too dark. It reflects color more accurately than most as well, and has shutter speed control for motion images.

LG G5, on the other hand, suffers slightly from overexposing in bright light conditions. It also interprets color quite inconsistently. It does have a wider aperture than the S7 Edge with f/1.8. However, its biggest advantage over the Galaxy S7 Edge is its dual-camera set-up, with its secondary camera at a wide-angle lens which allows it to take amazing photos.

Battery life: Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge

Both phones use Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor to support Quick Charge, but the LG G5 is the one with the removable battery - allowing for more longevity should its original one run out. It also runs on 2800 mAh, while Galaxy S7 Edge runs on 3600 mAh which allows it to run higher screen-on times (7-10 hours) as opposed to the G5's 3-4 hours. The Samsung device also allows wireless charging. How cool is that?

Hardware: Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge

Both smartphones use fingerprint scanners. The LG G5 boasts of its new modularity, having completely diverged in terms of design from its predecessors, while the Galaxy S7 Edge polished its S6 to a finish.

However, the Samsung titan has more tricks up its sleeve: an AMOLED screen with perfect color contrast, a 5'5" screen over the G5's 5'3", and a water-resistant body graded IP68.

Software: Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge

Both smartphones run on Android Marshmallow and there's basically not much difference, but this one has to go to Samsung, which stripped it down to a much more fluid Android experience.

Overall: Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge

Overall, the Galaxy S7 Edge provides a more holistic experience. However, it does not mean that the LG G5 is not worth a shot, especially with that A+ camera.
