Samsung Gear A Specs News: Korean Tech Manufacturer Confirms Features Ahead of Unveiling
The news about Samsung's first round smartwatch, the Samsung Gear A, has been getting a lot of attention lately. The wearable device, which is being referred to by insiders as "Orbis," is assumed to be officially unveiled alongside the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus this Aug.12.
However, ahead of the given date, the South Korean tech giant is confirming a handful of spec rumors. This was done during the recently-held Tizen Development Summit in Banglore, India, according to SamMobile.
The Gear A is indeed coming out with a round 360 x 360 resolution touchscreen. It remains to be seen if it has the earlier rumoured Super AMOLED display feature.
Samsung further acknowledged that the rotating bezel ring will give the users access to the smartwatch, which will be running in the current 2.3.1. version of the open-source Tizen operating system.
Although not confirmed by Samsung, previous reports said that the Orbis/Gear A will come with an Exynos 3472 dual-core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz and the Mali-400 MP4 GPU clocked at 450 MHz, 768 MB of RAM, 4GB of on-board storage, and a 250 mAh battery.
For connectivity, it will have Bluetooth 4.1 which enables the device to tap seamlessly into its companion smartphones and/or tablets. A handful of sensors can also be found on the wearable tech, including an inbuilt GPS, accelerometer, gyroscope, barometer, and heart rate sensors.
