Samsung S6 Edge Iron Man Special Edition Announced

For Iron Man fans out there - Samsung recently teased that they are releasing a Special Edition of their latest flagship phone, the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. Samsung will release an Iron Man Special Edition version of the flagship phone, according to reports.

The report mentioned that Samsung shared a photo on Twitter but not of the actual device. The photo showed the device packaging -- a dark red box with a golden face of Iron Man, which is slightly open and a bright yellow light peeking from within. The lower left side of the box says "Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge," while the other side has the text "Avengers: In Cinemas Now." On top of the box, it says "Coming Soon," which the report says may mean that the limited edition phones will be out in the market soon.

Samsung had earlier announced in its home market, Korea, that a special edition was coming out. With this recent announcement, it has confirmed that the phone will be released not just in Korea but also possibly the rest of the world. According to the company, "detailed availability in markets may differ by region," which is good news as most of Samsung's special edition phones are usually limited to Asian markets. No other details have been given except that the phone may possibly be available by the end of May or early June.

"The color of the new Iron Man phone will be red. We will decide other details soon after discussions with Marvel Studio,"said Samsung's head of marketing for the mobile division Lee Young-hee.

While mock-up images are circulating the Internet, Samsung has not officially released the final image of the handset. The report however says that the phone will likely feature Iron Man themed wallpapers, themes, icons and ringtones as part of the company's partnership with Marvel Entertainment.

This partnership came even before the movie was released, as part of the recent "Avengers" movie was partly shot in Seoul, which resulted in product placement opportunities in the movie itself.
