Actress Sarah Hyland from "Modern Family" poses as she arrives at the 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles September 18, 2011.

"So @rihanna just walked by my room at @gma I started singing 'Stay' to her... She didn't," Hyland,23, tweeted while on "Good Morning America" this week.

The tweet got picked up by a number of major blogs and publications like E! and Perez Hilton. After a number of people spoke about the 25-year-old pop star "dissing" the actress, Hyland came clean about her encounter with Rihanna.

"I find it funny people actually think my Rihanna tweet was real," Hyland tweeted. "She walked by my room. That's all. It's called comedy people :)."

Although a number of people may have believed Hyland's initial tweet, it seems Rihanna is no stranger to being the subject of people's stereotypes about her personality.

"I think they think I'm drunk all the time. I think they think I am always partying, that my house is probably a party all the time with tons of people and tons of music and no clothes. I think that's what they think," she said according to USA Today. "I'm actually very laid back. I love watching TV on a big old couch by myself. I love to swim in the ocean or the pool."

Still, she is not quick to label herself as a role model.

"I don't like to use that word because people have their own opinion on what that means to them. I can't really say I'm a role model. I'm not perfect. I'm not trying to sell that," she said. "I want people to have fun but be responsible, protect themselves and be in control of your life. You can never judge people. I always made that a point. You never know what someone is going through."
