'Scandal' Season 6: 100th Episode Features Parallel Universe Where Fitz Is Not President

The 10th episode of the sixth season of ABC's political drama series "Scandal" is scheduled to air on Thursday, April 13. The upcoming episode will feature a parallel universe in which Fitzgerald Grant (Tony Goldwyn) is not the president of the United States.

This season's next episode is titled "The Decision," and based on the promo teaser released by ABC, it will show an alternate timeline in which Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) will go against her instincts and refuse to alter the results of the election the first time Fitz ran for president.

Fans may recall how Olivia agreed to manipulate the results of the election in order to secure Fitz's seat in the Oval Office eight years ago. The 10th episode of "Scandal" season 6 will be a special one because it will show what would have happened had Olivia disagreed with the plan suggested by Hollis Doyle (Gregg Henry) and Mellie Grant (Bellamy Young).

In a previous interview with Entertainment Weekly, Goldwyn confirmed that his character will not be the president in the show's 100th episode.

"He's not the president of the United States. He's very different. It's something of a study of how the circumstances of our lives shape our identity, how we see ourselves, and how we present ourselves to the world. It's subtle, the difference, it's just really interesting who he is and what he struggles with. He ultimately is quite different," Goldwyn said.

Since the show's 100th episode will be exploring a parallel universe, viewers will need to watch to know whether or not Fitz and Olivia would have ended up together had their lives taken a different path.

The main storyline for "Scandal" season 6 will continue in the upcoming 11th episode, which will be focusing on the fates of Huck (Guillermo Diaz) and Abby (Darby Stanchfield) and their relationship with each other.

"Scandal" season 6 airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. EDT on ABC.
