Season 12 of "Grey's Anatomy" will begin three months after McDreamy's shocking and heart-breaking death. It is also three months since the wedding of Catherine and Richard. After her husband's death, Meredith has to start afresh as a single mother with her three kids. She has done her grieving and has moved back to her mother's place. Rumors are emerging that a new doctor at Grey Sloan Memorial will be her love interest.
With the twelfth season underway, fans can expect many changes in everybody's lives and a whole lot of different going-ons at Grey Sloan Memorial. "Chasing Amy" star Joey Lauren Adams will make her debut on the series during the Season 12 premiere. Miranda Bailey, played by Chandra Wilson, will get into a tussle for the important post of 'Chief of Surgery'.
Showrunner Shonda Rhimes told Entertainment Weekly. "We're going to watch Bailey make a play for chief. We're going to see what it means if she does or doesn't get it, and we're going to watch her struggle with growing up in that sense."

Fans are most excited to know about the new doctor who is going to be Meredith's new love interest. Reportedly, this romance was to come in the later part of Season 12 as right now, Meredith is struggling with the loss of her husband and bringing up her three kids. Rumors are also surfacing that the role of the new doctor will be played by actor Martin Henderson. This will certainly bring in a new direction in Meredith's life plus make the season a bit lighter. There are also other romances to watch out for.
The other romances, as Hypable reported, is that of Callie and Arizona. They will not be dating each other but will go out with others. Viewers will have to see if this makes them happy or not. There have been no spoilers for Alex and Jo so we don't know where their relationship will lead to.
