Season 3 of 'The 100' to feature a love triangle and Ice Nation. Brenda Strong joins cast as Queen Nia.

"The 100" Season 3 is getting yet another adult added to its cast. "Desperate Housewife" and "Dallas" actor Brenda Strong will be joining the show as Queen Nia of the Ice Nation. There is a time jump and Ice Nation is coming. The new season will also have a major character killed off and a love triangle of Lexa, Clarke and Bellamy will have Bellamy in tears.

Season 2 of "The 100" mentioned the Ice Nation throughout so the fans are primed to expect the upcoming season to feature Ice Nation. Brenda Strong, as the Ice Queen, has her role cut out for her. The official description of her role is as follows: "The Ice Queen has ruled her people for many years while 'holding onto power through ruthlessness and savvy.' She does what she must to maintain her power, even when it puts her at odds with those closest to her."

This does indicate an Ice Queen/Lexa confrontation.

Aaron Ginsburg, the supervising producer of the show, has revealed that a major character, a fan favourite in fact, will be bumped off in the new season. Creator Jason Rothenberg is ever generous to his fans and keeps revealing spoilers from time to time. This time he has shared a photo of Clarke, played by Eliza Taylor, on Twitter with a surprising new look.

In the photo, Clarke has more of a "Grounder" look, having divested herself of the "Sky People" look in terms of costume and hair. This has led to speculations that the storyline of "The 100" is changing. It would mean that Clarke has either joined the "Grounders" or is a spy, working undercover against the "Grounders."

Also, fans are eager to know Clarke's choice. Will it be Bellamy or Lexa? At the end of the previous season, Clarke had separated from Bellamy and Lexa. Lexa had betrayed Clarke to save her own people. When Clarke left Camp Jaha, Bellamy felt betrayed. Is Clarke going to become a leader of a rival faction and team up with Lexa?

"The 100" season 3 returns mid-season on The CW in early 2016.
