Selena Gomez Turns to Katy Perry Amid Friendship Woes; Singer 'Like A Big Sister'

Selena Gomez has turned to pop star Katy Perry for emotional support amid reports of new friendship and relationship woes.

Last week Gomez, 21, went on an unfollowing blitz on social networking site Instagram which saw the singer ditch a number of famous pals including sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner and her on-and-off boyfriend Justin Bieber. Reports of a feud surfaced shortly thereafter and Gomez is said to be bonding with Perry, 29, in the wake of all the drama.

"Katy has been helping Selena, she's doing everything she can to help her right now as far as being a shoulder to cry on, someone to talk to that will understand," a source told HollywoodLife.com.

"She's like a big sister to her, a nonjudgemental big sister. Katy doesn't push her opinions on Selena, but whenever Selena needs her, she is there for her," the insider explained.

The former Disney star was photographed partying with the Jenners and Bieber, 20, at the Coachella music festival just days before she ditched them all on Instagram. Reports claim Gomez and Bieber had a fight at the annual festival which caused them to split up again and Perry, who recently split from singer John Mayer, is said to be giving her love advice.

In addition to the Jenner girls, Gomez is believed to have unfollowed her former best friend Taylor Swift as well as actresses Reese Witherspoon, Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Benson on Instagram and it is unclear why.

"Katy has a lot of life experience as far as fame and relationships and dealing with players," the insider said.

"Compared to [ex-husband] Russell Brand or John Mayer, Justin is still a kid. Those guys are real womanizers so Katy knows exactly what Selena is dealing with," the source said.

In March, Gomez reportedly fired her parents Brian and Mandy Teefey, as her longtime managers and recently hired Perry's manager Bradford Cobb.
