'Selfie' Premiere Spoilers, ABC TV Start Time: Things to Know Before ABC's Upcoming Show Starts

ABC's highly-anticipated romantic sitcom TV show "Selfie" is now set to premiere its pilot episode this coming Tuesday, Sept. 30 at 8 p.m. For its opening episode, viewers will finally meet Eliza Dooley (Karen Gillan).

"A self-obsessed pharmaceutical sales rep who is megapopular on social media needs help making friends and being liked in real life, and so she turns to a marketing genius for tutelage in the series premiere of this modern take on 'My Fair Lady,'" the summary states.

While the half-hour, single-camera sitcom has still a day before it airs, here are things that you should need to know about the show, according to USA News.

For one, the show is more than the title suggest. "Selfie," needless to say, doesn't intend to diss social media life nor "judge you for utilizing it."

As suggested by the premiere synopsis, the show is basically a retelling of Audrey Hepburn's iconic 1964 film "My Fair Lady" and the 1938 film adaptation of George Bernard Shaw's play "Pygmalion."

Humor-wise, the site indicated show creator Emily Kapnek draws hints and inspiration from her hilarious yet quickly-cancelled "Suburgatory."

John Cho's Henry Higgins will serve as a direct contrast to Gillan's Dooley. Higgins, disconnected from today's zest for internet life, couldn't understand "why folks are addicted to the Internet or why they use words like 'feels.'"

Other interesting characters to watch out for in the show include Da'Vine Joy Randolph's Charmonique Whitaker, a rather laid-back friendly person who, aside from being a "morning greeter," is also great in giving encouragement.

Also set to appear as regular cast members are Tim Peper as Ethan Chase, Allyn Rachel as Bryn, and David Harewood as Sam Saperstein.
