'Shadow Of Mordor' Sequel Scheduled For August 2017, According to Target

US retail chain Target may have inadvertently blown the whistle on Monolith Production's plans for the upcoming sequel to its popular open world action-adventure video game "Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor."

According to GameSpot, some eagle-eyed fans have found that "Shadow of Mordor" is going to have a sequel that will be released this August and titled "Shadow of War." It will reportedly be available for both the PS4 and Xbox One soon. Talks of a PC version are also emerging, considering that the original game was released on the PC as well.

Based on the description, "Shadow of War" will see the return of the Nemesis system, where gamers will once again experience creating "unique personal stories with every enemy and follower."

The sequel will still feature the adventures of the Talion-Celebrimbor tandem, and Kotaku posits that the storyline will revolve around the two protagonists' attempt to create a new ring that can rival that of Sauron's. Instead of fighting with pesky and powerful orcs and Uruk-hai, it looks like the players will come face to face with the Big Eye himself and his creepy servants, the Ringwraiths. As Talion and his ghost friend, Celebrimbor, try to infiltrate Mordor, there will be new armies to be forged and more fortresses to conquer.

Meanwhile, aside from the base game, a "gold" edition of "Shadow of War" has also been leaked. It will contain new story expansions, which will feature a new campaign and side missions, among others. For the Nemesis expansions, gamers can expect to see a new Orc Tribe, wilderness updates and a new Mythic Gear Set.

The standard edition of "Shadow of War" will cost about $60, while the gold edition will likely be sold at $100.

According to Target, "Shadow of War" will be released on August 22. Both Monolith Productions and Warner Bros. have yet to release official statements.
