Shakira Baby Announcement: Singer Skips iHeart Radio Festival for Pregnancy

Shakira announced that she and boyfriend Gerard Pique are expecting their first child together.

Gerard Pique, 25, is a soccer player for Spain's FC Barcelona team. He and the "Hips Don't Lie" singer announced Wednesday via Shakira's website that they were expecting. After receiving news that Shakira was pregnant, the couple have both decided to put business aside for the time being and enjoy the moment.

"As some of you may know, Gerard and I are very happy awaiting the arrival of our first baby!" the singer wrote on her official site. "At this time we have decided to give priority to this unique moment in our lives and postpone all the promotional activities planned over the next few days."

The announcement also meant that Shakira would be dropping out of the upcoming iHeart radio fest.

"This means I will not be able to be a part of the iHeartRadio Music Festival, but I'm sure this weekend in Las Vegas will be spectacular and I will be closely following everything that happens there!" she added.

Over 700 Shakira fans responded to the announcement, adding their well wishes for the well-liked couple.

"WISH YOU BOTH ALL THE BEST, YOU AND GERARD WILL HAVE AN ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS BABY! YOU ARE SUCH AN INSPIRATIONAL BEAUTIFUL WOMAN!" one fan, named Abby, wrote.

In the latest news, Shakira has been slated as a possible substitute along with Usher in the fourth season of "The Voice." Christina Aguilera and CeeLo Green have both announced that they will be focusing on outside endeavors next year and will take a break from the show to ease the load.

"As I have expressed since day one of the show ... I am a singer and performer first and I am so excited to get back to that love," Agilera said in a statement. "Since this year NBC and 'The Voice' have decided to tape back-to-back seasons, requiring a full-year commitment, it is important for me to take season 4 off, allowing me to support my music that my fans have been waiting for with the release of my new album 'Lotus' on November 13."

CeeLo Green repeated similar sentiments and thanked the network for allowing him a break.
