'Shameless' Season 8 Spoilers: Frank to Change Ways Following Monica's Death?

Frank (William H. Macy) may actually become a better version of himself in the new season of "Shameless."

According to iTech Post, there is a chance that Monica's (Chloe Webb) death may have affected Frank so much that he will begin to see how bad a father he has been to his kids. The last installment of the Showtime series ended with a funeral. Monica died due to brain damage. Viewers saw Frank in a new light when he told the children that he truly loved their mother. He and Monica were high school sweethearts, and although they got divorced, Frank said he never forgot her. The Gallaghers stuck together during the wake, with Frank even reaching out to his eldest, Fiona (Emmy Rossum).

While it is possible that Frank will still be mourning Monica's death in season 8, him suddenly becoming a good father is not. The series is basically about him and his bad decisions in life and to have a 180-degree change in his personality does not make sense. Frank may be acting like a model father checking on his children for a while, but it seems right to predict that he will revert to his old selfish ways sooner rather than later. After all, he has money to burn now, thanks to Monica's stash of crystal meth. He and Fiona will likely be at loggerheads with each other as they fight over everything, just like they usually do.

Meanwhile, the fans are interested to know if Ian (Cameron Monaghan) has already forgotten Mickey (Noel Fisher). Previously, he let his ex-convict lover escape to Mexico alone as Ian decided he was better off without Mickey and went back to Trevor (Elliott Fletcher).

Fisher said in a December interview with TV Guide, though, that there is a possibility that his character would return.

"As far as I've ever known -- the character is not dead, so it's fairly open ended. The prison story and even with this, it's the same basic thing. There's always the possibility. So, who knows," Fisher said. He adds: "It's definitely not something that has to be a permanent end. He broke out of prison, so he can definitely find his way into [the country]. He can 007 his way into wherever he feels like. I don't know what the future holds."

"Shameless" is expected to return to Showtime in 2017.
