Serita Jakes, the wife of megachurch pastor Bishop T.D. Jakes, is revealing that she made the first move to pursue her husband.

Mrs. Jakes recently revealed that she began pursuing her husband as a secret admirer.

"I feel like a stalker. We started doing secret pal cards," she said in an interview with CBN's 700 Club recently. "You go to the Hallmark store. They even have them now and it's like, I would just sign it and it's from a secret admirer."

The cards were encouraging Mrs. Jakes future husband to pursue his ministry before they were finally introduced.

"I was encouraging him in ministry," Mrs. Jakes recalled on the 700 Club. "And then, finally, my pastor's wife introduced me to him and he said, 'Do you know where a single man can get a home-cooked meal?"

Mrs. Jakes admitted that she was not the best cook, so her mother prepared the meal. However, the coal miner's daughter eventually began dating the janitor's son, who later became the pastor of the megachurch The Potter's House megachurch in Dallas, Texas.

The couple appeared on the cover of Ebony magazine last February where the bishop gave some insight about the best way to keep a marriage thriving with hard work and privacy.

"Marriage requires work and expecting the unexpected. Don't let other people design a marriage you can't live with," Jakes said. "Keep other people out your business. Every marriage is different."

Mrs. Jakes told the 700 Club about how honored she is to share the story of the humble beginnings that she and her husband endured before they became leaders of a 30,000 member congregation.

"I get to share with them from the meager beginnings of no lights, no water, no food, no clothes, no shoes, and then I get to share with them, but God! But God ultimately has the plan for our lives," she said. "People that knew the coal miner's daughter can't believe where we are now. But people that see where we are now can't believe that there was such a humble beginning."
