'Sherlock' Season 4 News, Spoilers: John Watson to Become a Father, Janine and Irene to Return in Season 4?

While it has already been reported that BBC's highly-acclaimed crime drama series "Sherlock" won't be returning until early 2016, a lot of speculations and spoilers are still making the rumor mills with regards to the show's upcoming fourth season. Here's what we found out so far.

First, there's a strong assumption that Dr. John Watson (Martin Freeman) will be a father when the season returns. In season 3's episode entitled "The Sign of Three," fans saw Mary Morstan (Martin's real-life girlfriend Amanda Abbington) being wedded to the Afghan war veteran. Meanwhile, Sherlock (Benedict Cumberbatch) revealed to the couple that the woman is in fact, pregnant. In which case, it must be safe to say that viewers will see a baby Watson in the next season.

Actors Freeman and Morstan did shed some light about their fictional parenthood in an interview with Vulture. She revealed that, "they'd probably be reckless because they're both quite psychopathic."

"That kid has got nothing to worry about," she added.

Meanwhile, casting rumors suggest that Janine (Yasime Akram) whom Sherlock had met during the Watson-Morstan nuptial, will also be returning in the next season.

"He likes her, though," show creator Steven Moffat told IGN. "He'll see her again. They'll be pals."

"At some point, you know, if Sherlock Holmes has to go to a function and he needs a date, he'll phone her up. Now, he'll not expect her to say no. She'll be very cross with him, but she'll show up, and they'll have a good time. They will, because he likes her," Moffat added.

Of course, the woman whom the sleuth had a romantic interest with, Irene Adler (Lara Pulver) was also rooted to return. But series co-creator Mark Gatiss implied that it won't happen so.

"The danger is you have a successful character like Irene Adler and she makes a massive impact because that story is so perfect, but if she then moves in around the corner, it becomes a bit cozy," Gatiss told Digital Spy.

"Sherlock" three-episode Season 4 is expected to air in early 2016 following a Christmas special in 2015.
