'Sherlock' Season 4 Updates: Mary To Face Her Downfall; Mark Gatiss Reveals That This Is The Best Season For The Series

Season 4 of "Sherlock" has revealed minimal details about the show. However, the series creator, Mark Gatiss hinted in a report that this season is said to be the best for the show. Gatiss shared that the fourth season is full of exciting stuff. He added that there are life changing events that may happen in the upcoming season.

Mary Watson's Downfall

In the upcoming season, fans can expect Moriarty (Andrew Scott) to be back. Other villains from Sir Conan Doyle will have an appearance in the show. The teaser trailer also shows of the adventures that can be expected in the upcoming season.

Meanwhile, reports have it that the TV series will be the downfall of Mary Watson (Amanda Abbington) and that she will not have a happy ending. Mary might be gone in a tragic way and her downfall will happen in a much unexpected manner.

Mary will also expeirence parenthood in the upcoming season. Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch) on the other hand, will pass on to John Watson the responsibility of being a detective. It seems that there are changes in Holmes' decision, particularly with his profession.

The Adventures Continue

The adventures of Sherlock will continue once the fourth season is out. There are mysteries to solve and the evil ones will bring danger to Holmes. Moreover, the show will have a very dark villain and is described to be a myopically dark season.

In fact, the series creator Stephen Moffat shared in an interview that the new villain Culverton Smith (Toby Jones) is said to be a different one. He is the darkest villain for the series. He added that this new villain is the purest evil and that Sherlock is appalled by him.

Culverton Smith is different from Moriarty. Holmes is already used to Moriarty's evil ways and has always won over him. Smith on the other hand is a mystery to Holmes. His rotten soul will exude the most evil ways inside of him. He will make it harder for Holmes in moving along as the events unfold. He is a totally new villain with a very dark motive.

With the dark and evil villain coming in, the show will have a dark side to it. This is also presumed to be the best season ever. For the fans and followers, they can can expect to see the adventures continue early next year.
