'Sin City 2: A Dame to Kill' Release Date Reviews, Red Carpet Premiere News: Movie Garners Mixed Feedback

"Sin City 2: A Dame to Kill" had its red carpet premiere on Aug. 19 at the TLC Chinese Theater. Almost all of the members of the cast were on hand for the event, yet it was the ladies who turned heads on the red carpet.

Leading the bevy of beauties was Jessica Alba, who wore a cobalt blue Zac Posen strapless dress from the designer's 2015 Resort Collection. Jamie King flaunted her figure in a black Versace gown, while Rosario Dawson wore an Ermanno Scervino leather and lace black dress. Eva Green opted for an emerald green gown that set off her flawless skin. The actress chose a fairly conservative dress after sparking controversy when she posed for a very sexy poster for the movie a few months ago.

Directors Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez also walked the red carpet, with the duo teaming up again to bring more tales from Miller's graphic novel series to the big screen.

The movie is the follow up to the first "Sin City" movie which premiered nine years ago. Back for the sequel are Alba, Dawson, Bruce Willis, and Mickey Rourke. New cast members include Green, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Josh Brolin, Juno Temple, and Christopher Lloyd. Lady Gaga is also featured in the film in a much-talked about cameo.

Early reviews for the film have begun to roll in, as Ben Rawson-Jones at Digital Spy feels that the sequel is flawed, but does at least enough to justify its existence. Robbie Collin at The Telegraph says Gordon-Levitt and Green managed to elevate the quality of the material significantly, while Ali Gray at The Shiznit says that the film has an undeniable visual appeal, yet it's not enough to save a lackluster story.

"Sin City 2: A Dame to Kill For" premieres on Aug. 22.
