Fun. has taken home the award for Song of the Year with "We Are Young" at the Grammy Awards 2013 on Sunday night.

While entering on the red carpet, the band admitted that they had been playing in bands for over 12 years and a part of Fun. for over five years without ever breaking through on the charts. This time, however, the band has made it big, and have been nominated for six awards Sunday night during the 2013 Grammy Awards, which aired on CBS.

"I don't know what I was thinking when I wrote the chorus to this song," lead singer Nate Ruess joked on stage while receiving the award. "This is in HD, everyone can see our faces, and we are not very young."

The band won the Song of the Year category with "We Are Young." Other artists who were also nominated included Ed Sheeran with "The A Team," Miguel Pimentel with "Adorn," Carly Rae Jepsen with "Call Me Maybe," and Kelly Clarkson with "Stronger."

Halfway through the night Adele was announced as the winner of the Top Pop Song. Kelly Clarkson won Pop Vocal Album with "Stronger." The Black Keys took home Best Rock performance and Carrie Underwood took home Best Country Solo Performance.

Taylor Swift opened the Grammys with an all white circus performance while singing "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together."

"So he calls me and goes, 'I still love you...' And I'm like, 'I'm sorry, I'm busy opening the Grammys,'" she sang, tweaking her lyrics for her Sunday opening performance.

Justin Timberlake, Alicia Keys and Maroon 5 also took the stage to perform.
