Sonic Generations Garners Favorable Reviews and Fanfare (VIDEO)

Sega's latest Sonic title, "Sonic Generations," seems to be a hit judging by its online reviews.

Jack DeVries and Brian Altano of IGN said: "It feels refreshing to be able to say that Sonic is good again. His upward trajectory over the last year continues and he’s only gaining momentum."

Justin Towell of GamesRadar said: "This is easily the best Sonic game since the hog's Sonic 2 glory days. Surprisingly, modern Sonic's levels are the more impressive and fun and, while low-speed control is still clumsy, the wealth of quality action scenes cherry-picked from the past two decades makes the overwhelming majority of Sonic Generations an absolute blast."

Mark Milian, a writer for CNN, said: "Sonic Generations" will dip into past successes in its attempt to rebuild the franchise. Levels from classic Sonic games, such as the memorable Green Hill Zone, have been remade in 3-D."

"Sonic Generations" celebrates the twentieth anniversary of the iconic blue hedgehog by presenting gamers with the best levels and bosses from the series.

Players will get to play as two different renditions of the blue hedgehog. The classic version of Sonic sports a noticeable tummy and represents the past games seen on Sega's Genesis console.

The modern Sonic, who is much slimmer and taller, plays more like the current games seen on current generation consoles.

Sega recently announced that the game has seen more pre-orders than any Sonic title before it.

"Sonic Generations is the ultimate title to cap off Sonic's 20th anniversary and we have put our full support behind it with a number of truly amazing initiatives,” said Alan Pritchard, executive vice president of marketing at SOA.

"This year is a milestone for Sonic and we want to make sure this is the best title that Sonic fans, old and new, have been waiting for,” Pritchard added.
