Sony Xperia Z4 Release Date, Specs Rumors: Flagship Thinner With No MicroSD Card Slot

This year, Sony did not follow its usual bi-annual release of its new flagships. Last year, the Japan-based manufacturer announced its Xperia Z2, and six months later it unveiled the Xperia Z3 flagship.

However, this year there were no flagships during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona so fans and tech enthusiasts are left wishing for more details to be leaked.

Several weeks ago, FutureSupplier released a supposed snapshot of the Sony Xperia Z4's screen digitizer. Although there is nothing exciting about it, at least Android and Sony fans were assured that the latest high-end smartphone is still under way.

But a new report from Phone Arena mentioned that FutureSupplier was able to leak another interesting image about the Xperia Z4.

In the report, the Xperia Z4 frame was allegedly compared to the previous generation device, and came out thinner.

While there are no official details yet, the latest Sony flagship is allegedly 0.04 inches (1 mm) thinner than the previous model, which makes its waistline's measurement as thin as 0.25 in (6.3 mm).

In case this thickness detail is spot on, then the Xperia Z4 would be able to rub shoulders with the new Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, as well as the iPhones 6 and 6 Plus – all of which have similar waistlines.

Unfortunately, there might be a consequence to this slimmer frame. The report indicated that Sony could take away the microSD card slot.

These are all speculations for now so better take them with a grain of salt.
