'Speechless' Season 2 Spoilers: It's 'Second First Day of School' for the DiMeo Siblings

The sophomore season of "Speechless" has just premiered, and it promises an exciting run ahead. The official synopsis for episode 2 revealed that summer vacation was finally over, and it was time for the DiMeo kids to return to school.

The sneak peek posted on Twitter revealed that the first day of school would be different for the siblings, as it would be the first time for them to return to the same school after vacation.

In the short clip, Jimmy (John Ross Bowie) was telling Ray (Mason Cook), Dylan (Kyla Kennedy), and JJ (Micah Fowler) to get ready for school. Suddenly, Maya (Minnie Driver) made her way into the dining room and announced to everyone that it was going to be a special first day of school for them.

"Oh my goodness, it's first second first day! First day of school, it's your second year at the same school, first time that happens, [so it's] first second first day!" she told her siblings.

However, Ray seemed unable to understand what she was saying, so Maya went up to him and whispered, "Ray, you're supposed to be the smart one. Pretend to get it."

The new season will find the DiMeo family being part of a community for the first time, hence the decision to keep the siblings in Lafayette High School. The synopsis also revealed that Maya will try to help the parents of children with special needs by asking them to call for full-time aides. However, it looks like her sincere intentions will lead to something unfavorable results.

According to reports, as parents of children with special needs discover that the Lafayette caters to such needs, they will flock into the district until its funds get depleted. Due to the district's financial trouble, Maya will discover JJ's special funding, which results in JJ losing Kenneth as his personal aide.

"Speechless" season 2, episode 2 airs on Oct. 5, 8:30 p.m. on ABC.
