'Star' Season 2 Spoilers: The Girls Get Sidelined

"Star" moves on into its second season, settling in for a new run following the groups struggles to make it on TV. There's plenty of room to bring the past back, however, as Star (Jude Demorest) realizes.

The Fox music drama series has a new synopsis up online already, after just airing the second episode of its new season. It won't be a pleasant night of performing for the group, as already hinted at the title: "FUA... Good Night!" but it won't be the only thing that's going to bug the trio this episode.

"The past can't be ignored," the press release for the new episode warned, as quoted by The Futon Critic. This goes literally for Star, as she is confronted with a person from her past who she did not expect to meet again.

That's the least of the girls' problems, though. The group is on a high after scoring a TV appearance with recording artist Noah Brooks (Luke James), when the production crew springs a nasty update: they will be backup singers instead.

All the while, they had the impression that they will be co-headlining the show — instead, they will have to make do with providing support vocals away from the spotlight.

Carlotta Brown (Queen Latifah), looking to promote the girls for their next big gig, turns to Maurice (Lance Gross) for help. Whether the new A&R executive will be willing to lend a hand is something for fans to find out next week.

Elsewhere, Jahlil (Benjamin Bratt) starts to dabble into music production, while Cotton (Amiyah Scott) is getting frazzled just finding her way around her new job.

A new promo trailer is out, as well as the music video below, as adapted from one of the performances on the show. "Star" resumes next Wednesday, Oct. 11, at 9:00 p.m. EDT on Fox.
