'Star Wars: Battlefront' Gameplay and Release Date Announced

DICE and Electronic Arts revealed loads of information about the upcoming "Star Wars: Battlefront" during the Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim, California. The publisher announced showed a full-length trailer, its gameplay, and the much-anticipated release date.

Coming on PlayStation 4, the game highlights various locations including the deep forests of Endor and the icy tundra of Hoth. The trailer shows some of the special abilities and vehicles players can use in "Battlefront."

"Star Wars: Battlefront" would not have any traditional campaigns similar to those previously made by DICE in earlier versions, the upcoming game now includes a two-player co-op missions, which can be played online or offline.

Another inclusion in the gameplay not previously highlighted in previous versions is the female stormtroopers. In a report by Game Spot, Producer Patrick Bach talked about them.

"When you talk to Lucasfilm, they're like, 'Yeah, of course there are. We just haven't shown you [in the films] …For us, it's about filling in the details in the universe," he said.

The gameplay for "Battlefront" will let players discover the outcome of the "Battle of Jakku," which transpires prior to the events included in the film "Star Wars Episode VII – The Force Awakens."

According to the official game's website, the "Battle of Jakku" DLC will have two multiplayer maps on the planet Jakku. The game allows players to do a bevy of things including command AT-ATs, fire blasters, ride speeder bikes and snow speeders, and pilot TIE fighters and even the Millennium Falcon while exploring different locations such as Hoth, Endor, Sullust, and Tatooine. Players can also choose between two playable characters: Darth Vader and Boba Fett.

"Battlefront" uses DICE's Frostbite engine and has stunning visuals as a result of its collaboration with Lucasfilm. This collaboration is said to "deliver an incredibly authentic and immersive interactive entertainment experience featuring photorealistic visuals and epic action iconic Star Wars locations."

"Star Wars: Battlefront" release is scheduled on Nov. 17.
