'Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens' cast, news, spoilers: Oscar-winning actress to appear in the film

For a film franchise as big as "Star Wars," you would expect that by now many details have already been revealed about the upcoming "Episode 7." However, whoever are in charge of production are definitely doing a good job of keeping mum, as little information is still known about it.

However, one of the faces we can expect to see in the movie would be Lupita Nyong'o, and one thing that has fans frustrated about is not knowing what her role would be. Now, according to Latinopost, it seems that details about the character of Nyong'o will be kept hidden until December, when the movie is released.

In the recent D23 Expo, the 32-year-old actress gave a very carefully constructed answer that does nothing to reveal her part in the movie. She is quoted saying, "Well, the easy part is that you don't get to see me until you see the film... All you get is dots on my face." The actress was referring to a photo of her face in extreme close-up, covered in dots. She later on adds, "It's definitely difficult to keep the secrets, because, you know, you could slip and say something. So it's best to just shut up."

Cinemablend recently reported that Nyong'o will be playing Maz Kanata. It is also assumed from her aesthetics that she might be computer generated. Following this would be rumors that Kanata would be a pirate who owns a castle that used to be a base that hosted smugglers. However, later on, the Mexican-Kenyan actress said that the claims are a bit of an "exaggeration."

Another hope of confirmation about her role would be the upcoming release of Star Wars merchandise and toys. Although it may not exactly give all of the details, her costume and other paraphernalia about Maz Kanata will definitely give clues.

Lupita Nyong'o is best known for her role in the 2013 movie "12 Years a Slave" as Patsey, a slave that worked at a Louisiana cotton plantation, which was the role that coveted her an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.

"Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens" will be in theatres on Dec. 18.
