During their search, they encounter Darth Maul, who helps Ezra discover the Sith Holocron and then betrays them and blinds Kanan with his lightsaber. Upon the arrival of the other Inquisitors, Ezra works with the group and finally kills the three Inquisitors. During this time, Darth Vader is already aware of their presence. Kanan is sightless at this time, yet he manages to throw Maul from the top of the temple.

Ahsoka then finds Darth Vader and destroys his lightsaber which at this time, Vader comes to terms with his identity on being Anakin Skywalker. As the temple crumbles, Ezra, Kanan and Chopper manage to flee and reunite with the "Ghost" crew, while Maul is able to get out from Malachor and Vader survives the destruction. Ahsoka then appears at a temple doorway as Vader watches from above.

Ezra finally succeeds in opening the Sith Holocron.

What to Expect

"Star Wars Rebels" Season 2 ended powerfully that viewers are eager to know what the next installment brings. In the Star Wars Celebration Europe 2016, Dave Filoni, showrunner of the series, together with Ashley Eckstein (voice of Ahsoka Tano) and Pablo Hidalgo, a Star Wars story group member, talked about the untold stories of Ahsoka Tano. While discussing the series, Filoni dropped some parts of the next season which then made fans a little more excited for the coming episodes.

Filoni discussed that Ahsoka's exit in Season 2 might not be the end. In fact, there might be a possibility the Ahsoka will be back in the next episodes to come. On the other hand, fans will be seeing a more mature Ezra and he will be holding a green lightsaber instead of the blue one that he always has.

Since Season 2 was a powerful series, so is season 3. Though it seems that Vader is most likely not to appear in this season, a new villain emerges. Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen) will be present in the third season. Thrawn is known to be dangerous and really intelligent since he is a born tactician, and it will be hard for the heroes to outwit him. Thus, with the new villain, it brings power to the series.

"Star Wars Rebels" Season 3 will be released in fall of 2016.
