This also means that even though it will tell the life story of the men who founded the comic force in the 1970's and 1980's, the biopic will have a duskier side. It will follow how Kenny rose to fame in Hollywood with their comedy movies like "Animal House" and "Caddyshack" and how he ended up mysteriously dying by falling off a cliff in Hawaii at the age of 33. It will also show his drug and alcohol issues prior to his death in August 1980.

"A Futile and Stupid Gesture" will be directed by David Wain and will be written by Michael Colton and John Aboud who adapted Josh Karp's 2008 book of the same name.
