'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' Plot News, Updates: 'It's a Great Next Chapter,' Describes Disney CEO Bob Iger
Any "Star Wars" fan will undoubtedly do almost anything just to get an early look at the upcoming sequel, "Star Wars: The Last Jedi." Unfortunately, that perk is only reserved to those who are either involved in the film or important enough to see it, including Disney CEO Bob Iger.
At a first quarter earnings call (via Seeking Alpha), Iger teased about what to expect from the next film in the "Star Wars" franchise.
"'Star Wars: The Last Jedi,' otherwise known as Episode VIII, will open in December and I just saw it last week," Iger said in the earnings call. "It's a great next chapter in the iconic Skywalker family saga."

Needless to say, the anticipation and hype around "The Last Jedi" are only building with each passing week. The Internet is already riddled with several theories about what the title could possibly mean and what the story of the next chapter holds. A quick Google search will turn up thousands of results, which only proves just how big the franchise is.
"The Last Jedi" obviously denotes that the upcoming film has something to do with the Light Side of the Force and the ones who wield it. It could refer to Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) himself, who is believed to be the last surviving Jedi. And while this theory has everything going for it, other fans think that it is not that simple.
There are some people who think that "The Last Jedi" could be referring to both Luke and Rey, the young heroine who has an innate gift for the Force and was introduced in "The Force Awakens." The upcoming sequel could depict Rey being trained by Luke in the way of the Force. However, another possible theory, linked to this one, involves Luke dying in the end, making Rey the last Jedi.
"Star Wars: The Last Jedi" will bow in theaters on Dec. 15, 2017.
