'Star Wars' Title Revealed, New Name Garners Mixed Reactions

Disney has now revealed the title of the seventh "Star Wars" film, which will now be known as "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." The announcement was made during the movie's final day of production at Pinewood Studios, outside of London. The film will be new cast members such as Daisy Ridley and John Boyega as well as old ones, Mark Hammill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher.

The film is directed by J.J. Abrams who is popularly known as the director of the new "Star Trek" movie franchise which began in 2009. "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is scheduled to premiere on December 18, 2015.

The revelation of the title has elicited a range of reactions from fans – from favorable to mostly negative reactions.
The new Star Wars title is all part of Disney's plan, after they paid $4.05 billion for Lucasfilm back in 2012. The plan includes three sequels after Episode VI: Return of the Jedi as well as at least three spinoffs. While Disney owns Lucasfilm, they have given the child company freedom with publicity.
