Step Aside, Xiaomi Redmi 3 – Here Comes Lenovo Lemon 3

The latest mid-range smartphone of Xiaomi, the Xiaomi Redmi 3, may have just found its toughest competitor in Lenovo's new Lemon 3 smartphone. According to a Tech Times report, the new Lemon 3 boasts of the same specs as the Redmi 3 plus the same price point of $105. It is certainly shaping up to be a good option for a mid-range smartphone.

According to a Gadgets 360 report, the Lenovo Lemon 3 is equipped with a 5-inch display with a resolution of 1,080 x 1,920 pixels, which, according to the report, is better than the Redmi 3's 1,280 x 720 pixels resolution. Under the hood, it is powered by a 1.5GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 chipset paired with 2 GB of RAM. In terms of internal storage, the device has 16 GB onboard storage which is expandable via a microSD card.

The device has similar cameras with the Redmi 3, namely a 13-megapixel main rear facing camera and a 5-megapixel front facing camera. The Lemon 3 has a 2,750 mAh non-removable battery and comes pre-installed with Android 5.1 Lollipop.

The Lemon 3 offers dual SIM support, micro-SIM size and its connectivity options include GPS, Wi-Fi, 3G, 4G (with Band 40 support for Indian LTE networks) and Bluetooth. There are only two color options available: silver and gold.

According to the Tech Times report, the main differences of the two devices come in terms of battery capacity and display resolution, so consumers will have to choose according to what suits them most. The Lemon 3's 2,750 mAh is enough to power the device, but the Redmi 3's 4,100 mAh is more suited for consumers who need longer performance and longer battery power. In terms of the display resolution, the Lemon 3 has a clear advantage over the Redmi because of its higher resolution, so it suits consumers who want their phone's display to be sharper.

Like Redmi 3, the Lemon 3 is currently only available in China, with no word on whether it will be released elsewhere. Both devices have the same price point of around $105.
