Steven Curtis Chapman Spreads Faith With New Album

Five-time Grammy Award winning artist Steven Curtis Chapman released his 17th album “re:creation” on Tuesday.

“I’m excited for everyone, especially fans of my music, to hear what I have been working on," Chapman said in a statement.

“Re:creation” features six new songs including the Top 5 song “Do Everything” as well as remixes of the eight biggest hits by Chapman. The title describes the actual recreation of the eight songs, as they are new recordings and completely redone.

The album has an acoustic sound with a lot of vigor and life in each track, which is standard of Chapman’s songs.

Chapman and his wife Mary Beth are advocates of adoption, and started Show Hope, a charity organization that activates people and communities to care for orphans through its international efforts. The charity strives to bring more orphaned children to the U.S. by aiding adoption grants.

Chapman and his wife have three biological children as well as three adopted children from China. In a tragic accident, Will Franklin ran over his adoptive sister Maria Sue Chunxi Chapman in the driveway of their home. The young girl died the same day from injuries and blood loss.

The family maintained their faith and appeared on Good Morning America, Larry King, and in People magazine to talk about their love for God and one another. Chapman shared that he feels his new album “re:creation” is an opportunity to let everyone know he and his family believe God is recreating many wonderful things in their lives after the death of their daughter.

Wendy Lee Nentwig, Christian editor at Rhapsody, the most popular on-demand digital music service in the U.S., told PR Newswire, “Over the course of his nearly 25-year career, Steven Curtis Chapman has chronicled his own journey through song while creating a soundtrack for our lives.”

Nentwig continued, “His new album, re:creation, finds Steven Curtis emerging from a family tragedy to revisit some of his classic tunes, giving them a creative overhaul. Time and experience gives these songs new meaning, while Chapman delivers six brand-new tracks.”

Chapman is scheduled to appear in a Houston-area LifeWay Christian store on Tuesday. The artist is participating in a “street-and-greet” where fans can meet the 56-time Dove Award winner.
