'Steven Universe' spoilers, update: Malachite returns in special four-week event; season 3 totally musical
It may come as a surprise to fans of Cartoon Network's "Steven Universe" to know that season three will be entirely musical. It is reported to be released in June and will air through August in a run of weekly episodes. This season will be referred to as "The Summer of Steven." However, with the last airing having been in January, audiences will also be glad to know that the next month of wait for season three will not totally be a bore. In two weeks, "Steven Universe" will air a four-week, five-part event starting May 12 which has been entitled "Steven Universe: In Too Deep."
To start with, season three will have music playing a huge role in the series. As an entirely musical run, the upcoming series will feature seven songs in all which will play in 11 minutes. There will even be tap dancing which will be performed by the Peridot's voice artist, Rabara.
Series creator Rebecca Sugar shared, "There's a scene with tap dancing, and when you hear it it's actually Shelby dancing."

With this news, it can be concluded that a possibility of Peridot fusing with another gem exists, since dancing leads to fusion, similar to what had almost occurred in another earlier episode, "Log Date," because of the musical element of the gem.
In the meantime, the event which kicks off very soon this May will bode of some evil for Steven and the Gems with grim challenges coming up, with the return of Malachite, a vicious fusion gem which was the outcome of the fusion between Lapis Lazuli and the villain, Jasper. When Lapis Lazuli was able to overpower Malachite, she kept Jasper imprisoned beneath the waters of the sea. However, in this special event, Malachite is able to escape and comes back with the threat "I can't wait to tear you gems apart!"
Steven and the team of gems, Pearl, Garnet, Peridot, and Amethyst, will need to stick together to win over Malachite. But it is going to be a tough time for the Crystal Gems because, besides having to deal with Malachite, Yellow Diamond and mutant, Cluster, who has a score to settle with Peridot after the latter ignored her commands and joined her lot with Steven.
