Sting's Kids Inheriting $306 Million? 'There Won't Be Much Money Left!' Says Musician

Sting's kids inheriting $306 million may not happen, the rock legend revealed Sunday. The former frontman for The Police said that by the time he's gone there "won't be much money left" over for his six children to spend.

Sting, born Gordon Matthew Thomas Summer, spoke about how much wealth his children will be privy to in an interview with the Daily Mal U.K. on Sunday. The English pop singer said that leaving them a huge inheritance would be "albatrosses round their necks," so they won't get much, if anything at all.

"I told them there won't be much money left because we are spending it! We have a lot of commitments. What comes in we spend, and there isn't much left," Sting said, citing the over 100 people that he pays constantly. "I certainly don't want to leave them trust funds that are albatrosses round their necks. They have to work. All my kids know that and they rarely ask me for anything, which I really respect and appreciate."

Sting's fortune was estimated to be around 180 million pounds (about US$306 million) by the Sunday Times' Rich List, but the 16-time Grammy Award-winning singer said that doesn't mean his children have been especially privileged.

"They have this work ethic that makes them want to succeed on their own merit. People make assumptions, that they were born with a silver spoon in their mouth, but they have not been given a lot," he explained.

Sting has six children: Joseph and Fuchsia Katherine were with his first wife Frances Tomelty, while Brigitte "Mickey" Michael, Jake, Eliot "Coco" Pauline and Giacomo Luke were born with his current wife Trudie Styler.
