'Street Fighter V' Steam Free Trial: Play for Free on March 28

Capcom is offering fighting game fans on the PC a limited window to experience "Street Fighter V" for free. The trial period will be coming to Steam starting March 28, and will last for a full week.

In a surprising move, Capcom has released a statement announcing that "Street Fighter V" will be playable for free starting March 28. What's more, the trial version, while it will only be limited to the online modes of play, will otherwise come unfettered — all characters will be unlocked, including the new season 2 characters starting with Akuma and Kolin. The feature by Polygon notes that the Steam version of the free "Street Fighter V" week-long trial will give "a free glimpse into several new features and enhancements," as Capcom noted in its released announcement.

"Street Fighter V" is the latest installment of the premiere fighting game series by Capcom, and has been a standard title for online matches and official tournaments since its release last year, 2016. Capcom is currently adding new features and content in the form of new additions to the cast, starting with its recent launch of season 2 for the game, along with more characters that the company is planning to release as additional downloadable contents (DLCs).

Digital Trend also mentions a slew of updates that will be coming as part of the trial run, which the company will use to make further improvements to the Capcom Fighters Network. The data that they collect could be used by the company to "make further adjustments to optimize the new CFN and it will make its official release to both PlayStation 4 (PS4) and PC players soon after," Capcom noted.

The "Street Fighter V" free trial for the PC will be coming to Steam on March 28, starting at 9 p.m. GMT. The trial week will run from that date up to April 3, 8 p.m. GMT, according to PCGamesN.
