Sunny Obama Knocks Toddler Over at the White House

Sunny Obama, the dog owned by the First Family, let his friendly and energetic personality get the best of him while greeting a toddler at the White House this week.

On Wednesday, the Portuguese water dog attended a holiday arts and crafts event hosted by Michelle Obama in the State Dining Room, which children of military families attended.

In a brief moment of disarray, a two-year-old named Ashtyn Gardner had her foot caught under a walker at the same time that she was greeted by the Obama's dog Sunny when the tot lost her balance, according to ABC News.

Fortunately, Gardner quickly got back on her feet and chatted with the First Lady.

Despite the run-in between Sunny and Gardner, the arts and craft event saw children make holiday themed artwork and even made iced sugar cookies with the First Lady. The festivities marked a yearly tradition at the White House in Washington, D.C. where volunteers are chosen from around to world visit and help decorate the iconic presidential home.

Meanwhile, Sunny joined President Barack Obama, Michelle, and their daughters Sasha and Malia in the White House last August. The First Family also includes another Portuguese water dog, four-year-old Bo, and the pair of pups are often seen scampering across the South Lawn.

"Sunny is the perfect little sister for Bo- full of energy and very affectionate- and the First Family picked her name because it fit her cheerful personality," the White House said in a statement at the time of Sunny's adoption.

Sunny and Bo's hypoallergenic breed is just right for the Obama family, as 16-year-old Malia suffers from allergies. While Bo has a white chest and two front white paws, Sunny is all black.

Last year, Bo starred on the Obama's Christmas card, and there is a good chance that Sunny could join the holiday scene this Christmas.
