Super Smash Bros. 4 characters rumors: Voice actor raises speculations about Professor Layton's entrance to the roster

As fans await the debut of the next Super Smash Bros. 4 game, rumors continue to revolve around the characters, including one that has recently been roaming around the Internet regarding Professor Layton being the latest character to be added.

According to a report by iDigital Times, the rumor surfaced when a fan account started a promo campaign for Professor Layton to be the next character to join the new Nintendo game's roster.

The fan account named LaytonSmash reportedly asked Christopher Miller, Professor Layton's voice actor, about his involvement in the upcoming game on the IMDB page. Miller replied via his Twitter account and said, "Who wants to say it? My body can't contain the hype. Someone fill in the blank. ______ in Smash. - Layton for Smash! (@LaytonSmash)." The post has since been deleted, and IMDB also removed Miller's name from the list soon as word spread about the rumor.

Although many fans immediately translated that the post is actually a leak of the next character to join the team, Nintendo has not provided a statement about the rumor.

This is not the first time that IMDB has fueled rumors among fans as the site previously hinting that Shantae's name appeared in the list of characters in the Super Smash Bros.s IMDB page.

The next characters to join the adventurous roster will be chosen via fans' votes, and though there has been no word about who the chosen ones are, Masahiro Sakurai has promised that there will be more characters to be added.

If Professor Layton takes on the upcoming installment for real, he will be joining Lucas, Roy, and Ryu in the popular Nintendo game.

Characters that are already in the list include Ness and Toon Link, Bowser Jr., Duck Hunt Dog, Dr. Mario, Ganondorf, Mii Brawler, Swordfighter and Gunner, Olimar, Zero Suit Samus, and Mr. Game Watch.
