Super Smash Bros 4 Roster: Marth of Fire Emblem Announced as New Playable Character (PICTURE)

Super Smash Bros 4's roster grew larger today as game director Masahiro Sakurai announced that Fire Emblem's Marth will be joining the mayhem of the game.

Marth made his SSB first appearance in Melee for the Gamecube, and returned for Brawl on the Wii. He is now the 18th confirmed character for the game.

"Pic of the day. Marth joins the battle!! Once again, everyone will be overwhelmed by his magnificent sword skills!!" Sakurai said in his announcement in Nintendo's Miiverse. See the post and picture here.

The last new character announced for the game is still not on the official roster. Sakurai revealed a picture of the Male Wii Fit Trainer last week. The Female Wii Fit Trainer is already character and it is unclear whether the male will be a totally different character or just an alternate skin for the female.

The two are seen together in one of the levels suggesting his involvement with the game. More than likely the main player to select is the female with the alternate costume being the male version. Usually there are a variety of different colors and costumes characters wear, and in this case it is just changing the gender.

"Pic of the day. The trial version of Wii Fit U is available now! We'd like to share this pic to commemorate the occasion," said Sakurai in the photo that can be seen here.

This will be the Wii Fit Trainer's first time in the SSB series after gaining popularity with Wii Fit and Wii Fit Plus for the Wii.

The characters confirmed for the game so far besides the trainer and Marth are: Mario, Luigi, Link, Samus, Kirby, Fox, Pikachu, Bowser, Donkey Kong, Pit, Olimar, Toon Link, Princess Peach, Sonic the Hedgehog, MegaMan, and the Villager.

Super Smash Bros has become a Nintendo fan favorite for the company since its first release on the N64, followed by "Super Smash Bros. Melee" on Gamecube and "Super Smash Bros. Brawl" on the Wii.

This will be the first time the series comes to a handheld system as well, and is expected to release in spring of 2014.
