Switchfoot New Album 'Vice Verses' Hits Top 10 in Billboard 200

Christian crossover rockstars Switchfoot recently released their newest album “Vice Verses,” which debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard 200, as well as No. 5 on iTunes and No. 3 on the iTunes alternative chart.

The band has appeared on a number of shows and is gaining a steady amount of press that started with an appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"

Switchfoot will be playing their Top 15 Modern Rock Hit "Dark Horses" Oct. 25 on "Conan."

Another track from the album, "The War Inside," is heard on the trailer for "In Time," an upcoming 20th Century Fox Film starring Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried.

Switchfoot also contributed "Out of Control," another track that is not on the album, to CBS's just-released soundtrack to "Hawaii Five-0.”

The band was also a part of the Game Day Takeover of ABC when “Vice Verses” was selected as the theme music for the Oklahoma vs. Florida State football game.

A stream of the album was hosted by ESPN, and the network partnered with the band to give away Rose Bowl 2012 tickets for the game in Pasadena, Calif.

Skateboard company Hurley selected Switchfoot as the exclusive music for Hurley Pro in Trestles, Calif., and the band recently played at a San Diego Padres game.

Currently Switchfoot is co-headlining with fellow Christian rockers Anberlin and recently performed at the New York Best Buy Theater. In addition, frontman Jon Foreman played an outdoor performance to thousands of people in Times Square.

The bands on the tour are supporting the StandUp for Kids charity, a national nonprofit volunteer outreach organization that strives to help homeless kids by collecting new and used backpacks at the shows.

The backpacks will then be filled with food and essential supplies and delivered to homeless children.

This is the eighth studio album for the multi-platinum Switchfoot.

"Between the dialectic of life and death we are pulled tight, stretched out like the strings of my guitar,” Foreman said about the album. “We are the notes dancing from the strings of time, held firm between life and death. This is the polarity of our existence, pulled tight between despair and hope, belief and doubt. We are strung tight between our birth and the grave. Humanity is dancing on the fretboard in between. Death will one day cut the string. Until then, we live in the tension.”

Alternative Press reviewed the album with praise, remarking "gorgeous, swelling ‘Restless’ sounds plucked from U2’s Achtung Baby, but the real standout is ‘Souvenirs,’ a stunning ballad that, if there’s any justice, will go down as one of the band’s biggest hits to date.”

The band won Artist of the Year at the San Diego Music Awards earlier this year.

The band hails from San Diego. Every year the band hosts the Switchfoot Bro-Am Presented by Hurley. The event is an annual concert/surf contest/silent auction and has raised more than $500,000 for local charities.
