Apple Watches for Sale at Target: Release Date Scheduled for October

Target stores will begin selling the Apple Watch this month with some of the outlets getting the stocks as early as this week.

Target customers can begin ordering the Apple Watch from Target.com on Oct. 18, while those who prefer to shop in person can buy the device from Target stores starting Oct. 25. The company confirmed that its customers will be able to choose from 20 models of the Apple smartwatch from its stores, according to AL.com.

The retail firm will start delivering Apple Watch stocks across its 1,800 outlets all over the United States. While only a few models and bands will be available in Target's physical stores, more Apple Watch variants will be available on Target.com, CNN reports.

"Guests can choose from 20 models — in both 38 mm and 42 mm sizes — including beautiful space gray and rose gold colors," AL quotes Target's statement. "Select models and bands will be available at all Target stores, and an expanded assortment of Apple Watch Sport and Apple Watch will be available on Target.com."

Target customers can purchase the Apple watch for as low as $349. The most expensive variant comes with a price tag of $599, the report adds.

The retail giant also has good news for its thrifty customers. Those who want to save more dough can use their REDcard to avail of a 5 percent discount from almost everything they buy from both Target's physical and online stores. Everything they buy from Target.com can also be shipped for free if they use the REDcard, the report details.

The new Apple Watch comes with updated software which now allows users to display video and control the device's sensors using non-Apple apps. In addition, it can now connect with a smartphone using Wi-Fi.

The changes, however, stop there because the new Apple Watch has pretty much the same hardware as the previous version. It is still powered by the same battery that lasts for 18 hours. But Apple Watch fans now have a wider range of colors and band options to choose from, the report relays.

Online orders for the Apple Watch will begin on Oct. 18 on Target.com and the smartwatch will arrive at Target stores nationwide on Oct. 25.
