"Teen Mom" Farrah Abraham was arrested last week for drunk driving after a breathalyzer showed she had a blood alcohol level nearly twice the legal limit. Abraham has spoken out about her actions that day and what she believes actually led to her arrest.
"It was St. Patrick's Day and I was out with my sister," Abraham said. "I did not plan to drink because I was sick, so I took the role of being in charge and making sure my sister and I would return home together and safely. At 10 p.m. I tried to leave, and at that time, my sister was not ready to leave, so I had been sipping on drinks to pass the time," she told In Touch Weekly.
Two hours later her sister was finally ready to leave, and Abraham went to get the car and pick her sister up from the club. That's when she was approached by police and things escalated.
"When I was parked, a police officer asked me what I was doing, so I told him I was worried about my sister and I was trying to go home. They insisted on the regular questions and asked me to get out of the car. I got out of the car and because I was upset, I yelled," Abraham explained.
That incident led her to be given a breathalyzer, which showed a blood alcohol content of 0.147. The legal limit in Nebraska is 0.08, which meant that Abraham was legally drunk and police took her into custody.
She however, blames her sickness on the skewed breathalyzer results and said she couldn't provide an "accurate" reading "due to coughing and shortage of breath." Abraham has obtained a lawyer and plans to deal with the ticket she received.
New images from the day, though, may hurt Abraham's argument. Photos showing her drinking and dancing with people at a club just hours before she was arrested. In one of the photos, Abraham is seen drinking a beverage while holding another one in her hand.
