The teens hit a number of luxury night bars in Kyoto, drinking whisky and sparkling wine, with some bottles costing up to 380,000 yen (about $3,700).

Part of the huge tab was also entrance fees to high end clubs.

The teenager was rebuked by various commenters across the globe when news of his spending spree broke, however, a judge has now placed the blame away from the teen, instead saying that the blame belonged with bar and club owners, as well as the credit card company.

According to the judge's ruling a majority of the money spent will now be covered by American Express.

The Kyoto District Court judge rebuked various bar and club owners for allowing the teens to spend how they did, but also targeted the credit card company with his comments.

The judge only ruled that the boy's father pay 800,000 yen out of the 5.5 million yen his son had spent, according to News.com, which is less than 15 percent of the total expenses incurred.
