The Apple Store was down in the U.S. and U.K. Tuesday morning which means that something new is about to be released.

Apple enthusiasts are keenly waiting for the site to come back up to see what new features will be released.

Mac OS X 10.7 Lion is due and unlike previous versions of the Mac OS X, Lion will be available via the Mac App Store and won’t be available in boxed form at retail stores.

Downloaders should expect roughly a 4GB download for the new Lion.

New MacBook Air models are also set for release. The updated configurations are expected to include new Intel Sandy Bridge CPUs. In addition they should include support for the new high-speed Thunderbolt port, backlit keyboard and 128GB/256GB of flash storage.
