Avengers Infinity War Release Date: Russo Brothers to Direct Parts 1 and 2

As fans are eagerly waiting for the second Avengers film "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" to be released on May 1, reports came out recently that the Russo brothers Joseph and Anthony have been signed on to direct the third Avengers film "The Avengers: Infinity War." The film will come in two parts, and both parts will be helmed by the Russo brothers.

According to a report in CNN, it seems that the brothers are "cementing themselves as Marvel's main executors."

The movie will be the third film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that the brothers are working on. The first one was "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" and the second one will be the upcoming "Captain America: Civil War."

According to Badass Digest, who first reported the news, no writers have been signed on yet, but it was reported that Marvel is in negotiations with Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, who collaborated with the Russo brothers on both "Captain America" films.

The brothers are taking over the directorial duties of "The Avengers" series of films after Joss Whedon. Badass Digest also cites that "Civil War" helps establish the storyline of "Infinity War" so it seems logical that the brothers will get to continue their story to the next set of films.

Joseph and Anthony Russo started out as directors of TV comedy, most notable of which is "Arrested Development" which ran from 2003 to 2006, and continued on after 2012. Their first action film was "The Winter Soldier." They also recently signed a three-year deal with Sony Pictures to direct a reboot of "Ghostbusters," although reports are suggesting that this recent Marvel deal may cause problems for their commitments with Sony.

"Infinity War Part 1" is due in theaters on May 4, 2018, while "Infinity War Part 2" will be released a year after, on May 3, 2019.
