'The Big Bang Theory' Season 7 Spoilers: Sheldon Resists Changes, Goes AWOL in Finale

"The Big Bang Theory" returns to CBS on Thursday with one more installment before the season seven finale next week.

While the synopsis for the season finale already surfaced online, Jim Parsons confirmed what CBS already hinted at- that Sheldon goes AWOL by the end of the episode, according to reports this week.

"He gets the hell out of there and I have no idea where he's going or what he's planning," the 41-year-old actor told TVLine of his character. "I won't know until I come back and read the first episode [of season eight]."

Although Parsons does not know where his character went, the actor does know why Sheldon takes off expectedly in the finale.

"All the [personal and professional] changes that are taking place finally start to come home to roost for him as problems," the actor explained of Sheldon. "It was very interesting to read it for the first time and then to play the final episode because it really gets at the crux of something that is perhaps his defining characteristic as a character on television- which is his resistance to change. If you look at it through that lens, so many of the things he does, the things he says, the places he sits, etc., have everything to do with the fact that this is the way it's done, this is the right way to do it and this has served him fairly well as a human. They've got him in a situation now, the writers do, where it's not possible to carry on without some changes."

Meanwhile, as previously reported, the season seven finale of "The Big Bang Theory" will also feature the return of Leonard's mother, Beverly, portrayed by Christine Baranski.

"The Big Bang Theory" airs on CBS Thursdays at 8 p.m. EST. The synopsis for this week's "The Gorilla Dissolution" is as follows: "A trying day at the movie shoot leaves Penny with questions about her life choices, so she decides to act on it; and caring for a bedridden Mrs. Wolowitz proves a challenge for Howard and Bernadette. Meanwhile, Sheldon offers relationship advice to Raj after sees Emily at the movies with another man."

The synopsis for May 15's "The Status Quo Combustion" is as follows: "In the season 7 finale, Sheldon gets caught up in all the life-altering changes going on around him and considers a monumental move."
